Vietnam's job market this year is considered the brightest in the region, with 68% of companies planning to hire more people.

According to a survey conducted by JobStreet.com in 6 countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam, Vietnam is the most active job market in 2017, according to the perception of both employees (4.50 points) and employers (4.57 points). Meanwhile, the average evaluation of the 6 countries for employees and employers is 3.46 points and 3.16 points, respectively.

The report found that employers in Vietnam have the largest market expansion trend in the region, with 68% of companies planning to increase their workforce in 2017. No companies plan to stop hiring. In contrast, 20% of companies in Singapore plan to stop hiring this year, leading the region.

Employers across all industries are positive about the job market outlook, with the most positive assessments coming from employers in the manufacturing industry.

On the job side, candidates majoring in business promotion and marketing have the most positive career prospects this year. Job seekers in Vietnam have also been quite proactive in grasping job opportunities from many different sources of information. 47% of candidates search for jobs on job websites and social networks, in addition to traditional methods such as referrals from acquaintances and recruitment companies.

According to Ms. Angie Phang - General Director of JobStreet.com Vietnam, this trend requires companies to pay more attention to "polishing their name" on social networks to attract talent. "With a limited source of candidates and increasing job opportunities, the company's image is more important than ever. Spreading a positive image is essential and social networks are the most popular and fastest tool," she recommended.

JobStreet.com believes that in the current context, employers need to make quick decisions and shorten recruitment time because many candidates receive multiple offers at the same time. At the same time, to create attachment and retain employees, companies need to research salary levels and recruitment trends in the market to ensure that job offers are attractive enough for them to stay.

“The optimistic view of candidates and employers on the labor market in 2017 shows that the war for talent is becoming more and more fierce. Employers need to have a clear and transparent recruitment and talent development strategy in both the medium and long term to ensure their competitive position in the increasingly booming job market,” the report concluded.
