In the first 4 months of 2016, the amount of rice exported from Vietnam to China accounted for 36.45% of the market share.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, China is still the leading market for importing Vietnamese rice. In the first 4 months of 2016, the amount of rice exported to China accounted for 36.45% of the market share, the volume of rice exported in May 2016 was estimated at 345,000 tons, with a value of 165 million USD.

In the first 4 months of 2016, rice exports to the Chinese market reached 705.96 million tons, equivalent to 325.32 million USD, up 10.31% in volume and 23.63% in value over the same period last year; the volume of rice exported in May reached 345,000 tons. In general, in the first 5 months of 2016, rice export volume is estimated at 2.35 million tons and 1.06 million USD, down 2.1% in volume but up 1.2% in value over the same period in 2015.

After China, Indonesia was the second largest rice import market of Vietnam in the first 4 months of 2016 with 15.59% market share. The amount of rice exported to the Indonesian market in the first 4 months of 2016 reached 350,700 tons, equivalent to 139.14 million USD, an increase of 72.3 times in volume and 72.2 times in value compared to the same period in 2015.

Thus, the amount of rice exported from Vietnam still mainly "flows" to the Chinese market./.
