Gene
(Baonghean.vn) - The sentence "External genes are dominant, internal genes are recessive", whether it is a scientific summary or a rhyming statement, is probably a product of post-19th century language.
8 out of 10 guys living around me have thought about taking their children for a DNA test. Love trust is something extremely strange in the world of men, saying that they doubt their wives is unfair to them, but saying that they absolutely trust their wives is "unfair" to them again! Although analyzed on the basis of an extremely strict data set, knowing full well that the probability of losing sex is 0, they still crave to turn over that black and white evidence to be satisfied, to be satisfied. However, it is only an intention or a thought, but as far as I know, none of the 8 men "born in the year of Cao Cao" above naturally do such an ecstatic thing. They just accompany that one in a billion vague anxiety, considering it a permanent emotion. Life is really bare and boring if everything is exposed.
The modern world can sometimes take away our most primitive emotions. Like VAR technology in football, there is a name for justice to expose the truth, but if VAR had been applied in 1986, there would have been no “hand of God” to write in football history. The ancients suffered many disadvantages, and one of them was that there was no medical facility to test DNA. Women who were wrongly in love had to swallow their bitterness for the rest of their lives, and men who were suspicious of their wives could only sweeten their secrets. In the end, all secrets were buried deep in the ground forever. The phrase “External genes are dominant, internal genes are recessive,” whether it is a scientific summary or a rhyme, is probably a product of language after the 19th century.
Although used quite commonly in everyday life, gene is not a word of Vietnamese or Chinese origin. Gene is a specific segment of a nucleic acid molecule (DNA or RNA) that has a certain genetic function. This term is a phonetic translation combining the Vietnamese transcription of the English word gene, as well as the French word gène (international pronunciation is /jēn/). In general biology, it is also written as gene (read as gien or zen).
However, when entering social life and being popularized, the word gene sometimes no longer retains its pure meaning in terms of natural science. Gene is sometimes used to describe the personality, strengths, and nature of an individual or community. Saying "That guy has an adulterous gene" or "That village has a fighting gene" is a fairly common variation of the word gene. Speaking of this, I suddenly think of two stories related to the word gene: The first is the statement of the president of a neighboring country, that "There is no invasion gene in the blood of Chinese people". (Note that this statement was made at a large forum at the time when the Haiyang drilling rig was deep in Vietnam's territorial waters).
As for the second story: According to the prestigious international genetic journal Human Mutation (IF 4,5) which has just published "Research on the Vietnamese genome", we Vietnamese people do not originate from the Han people as most people have long mistakenly believed. Even Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of VRISG, Head of the project, said that "the Vietnamese genome is very different from the Han people's genome in Northern China"...
The results of genetic research are great achievements of science. The story of how genetically modified crops changed the soybean market share is probably clear to everyone. Genes are an opportunity to light up hope for the future of modern medicine. People have found genes that cause gray hair, genes that cause calluses, and even genes that cause bad breath. However, with the "invasion gene" as someone said, perhaps "medicine" is temporarily helpless. Hopefully, those who do not have the invasion gene will also not have the gene that causes bad breath.
Speaking of the word gene in the common sense, I remember the case of a girl who had a tragic accident in the middle of the night on the side of the road. Dozens of people and vehicles passed by, some stood by and watched and then left, no one stepped in to help until the girl died tragically. Is it possible that they only have the “gene” of indifference? Another story, on July 23 in Hai Duong, there was a double traffic accident that killed 6 people. The origin of the tragedy was a man who was cycling on National Highway 5 when he was suddenly hit and killed by a 16-seat car. After the traffic accident, many passersby stopped to “watch”. Painfully, while the villagers were gathering, a truck traveling from Hanoi to Hai Phong suddenly crashed into the median strip and fell over. So 5 more people died on the spot. Too painful, it is worth mentioning that this is not the first time our people have died because of the “gene” of curiosity!
There are probably many variations on the word gene: companies like those that suck polluted water from canals and sell it to people at exorbitant prices are hard to have decent genes. Those who see a truck of beer and rush out to steal it and put it in the fridge to drink gradually probably have greedy genes. Giving red books to people and then collecting them, then returning them, that means having the gene of being arbitrary. Being a parent who doesn't know that their child's score has been inflated probably has the gene of being heartless, and if they know and still stubbornly deny it, then there must be many arguing genes!
Well, genes are not genes but… genes!
In recent weeks, the keyword “Tu Chinh Shoal” has attracted special attention from public opinion at home and abroad. Once again, China has brazenly dragged its exploration ship deep into our country’s exclusive economic zone.
At a press conference on the afternoon of July 19, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that in recent days, the Chinese survey ship Haiyang 8 has violated Vietnam's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf in the southern part of the East Sea. These are completely Vietnamese waters, determined in accordance with the provisions of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, of which both Vietnam and China are members. According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Vietnam has contacted China many times through different channels, delivered diplomatic notes of protest, and resolutely requested that the violations immediately end, all ships be withdrawn from Vietnamese waters, and that Vietnam's sovereignty and jurisdiction be respected for the sake of the relationship between the two countries and for stability and peace in the region. Vietnam's maritime authorities continue to deploy many appropriate measures to peacefully and lawfully exercise sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction to protect Vietnam's sea areas.
Talent, trespassing into someone else’s “yard” and still claiming that you “don’t have the invasion gene”. Yes, maybe your blood doesn’t have the invasion gene, but I hope your blood has a little bit of the… shame gene!
