Coffee price today January 13, 2025: Sharp decrease for the fourth consecutive week

Domestic coffee prices today, January 13, fell sharply for the fourth consecutive week, reaching 118,300 - 119,000 VND/kg, a decrease of 1,300 - 1,500 VND/kg compared to last week.

Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands today remained unchanged, fluctuating between 118,300 - 119,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are purchasing coffee at the highest price of 119,000 VND/kg. No change compared to yesterday.

Similarly, coffee prices in Dak Lak province also had the highest price at 119,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province remained unchanged and were traded at VND118,800/kg.

In Lam Dong province, coffee prices remained unchanged at VND118,300/kg.

Last week, coffee prices in the Central Highlands decreased by VND1,300-1,500/kg compared to the previous week. This is also the fourth consecutive week of decline in the domestic coffee market.

Accordingly, coffee prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces are being purchased at 119,000 VND/kg, down 1,300 VND/kg and 1,500 VND/kg respectively.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province also decreased by VND1,400/kg last week. Following the general trend, coffee prices in Lam Dong province decreased by VND1,500/kg compared to last week.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery March 2025: Down 13 USD/ton, to 4,966 USD/ton.

Delivery in May 2025: Down 12 USD/ton, to 4,879 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

March 2025 delivery: Up 5.35 cents/lb, to 323.85 cents/lb.

May 2025 delivery: Up 5.1 cents/lb, to 319.8 cents/lb.

There was not much information affecting the market last week, although the transaction price fluctuated but the results were almost unchanged.

Arabica coffee prices in the world market remained stable and closed higher for the week as rainfall in Brazil was assessed as below normal as Somar Meteorologia reported on Monday that Brazil’s largest arabica coffee growing region Minas Gerais received 62.5 mm of rain last week, equivalent to 86% of the historical average.

Except for being dominated by technical nature, the current coffee prices from the two markets are under different pressures and supports, while Robusta coffee is in the peak harvest period in Vietnam thanks to good sunshine, the sales volume has also increased, we can see that through the pressure of domestic buying prices, which has decreased by about 1,200 VND/kg compared to last week, which is equivalent to a decrease of about 50 USD/ton.

Robusta coffee was under further pressure on Friday after the General Department of Vietnam Customs reported that Vietnam’s December coffee exports increased 102.6% year-on-year to 127,655 tonnes.
