At the end of the most recent trading session, the price of Robusta coffee in London for September 2024 delivery decreased by 107 USD/ton, at 4,425 USD/ton, and for November 2024 delivery decreased by 126 USD/ton, at 4,233 USD/ton.

Arabica coffee prices for September 2024 delivery decreased by 8.25 cents/lb to 232.60 cents/lb, and for December 2024 delivery decreased by 7.80 cents/lb to 230.75 cents/lb.

In last night's trading session, the closing prices of robusta and arabica coffee fell significantly.

The London exchange saw limited trading due to tight robusta supplies, while the arabica market saw large wholesale volumes.

The coffee market is highly sensitive to changes in production. In particular, a combination of frost and drought could severely impact the 2025/26 crop. Brazil, which is facing both, is at risk of a decline in coffee production, adding a level of uncertainty to an already volatile market.

Investors are keeping an eye on weather conditions in Brazil, as any major fluctuations could send coffee futures prices swinging.

The combination of frost, insufficient rainfall and drought conditions creates an uncertain backdrop for coffee production, potentially having a major impact on the next harvest.
