Domestic coffee prices have risen on strong demand from exporters and roasters. One of the key factors affecting the market is the delay in exports of Vietnam’s new harvest. This raises concerns about short-term supply, especially as Vietnam plays a key role in the global robusta supply chain.

Rabobank said that although exports are slowing, high physical discounts could boost exports in the coming period.

Vietnam is expected to earn more than $6 billion from coffee exports this year, and could even reach $7 billion if the market continues to attract interest from international buyers.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

March 2025 delivery: Unchanged at $5,410/mt.

Delivery in May 2025: Down 7 USD/ton, to 5,366 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

March 2025 delivery: Up 2.3 cents/lb, to 377.5 cents/lb.

May 2025 delivery: Up 2.1 cents/lb, to 367.7 cents/lb.

Traders said a correction in coffee prices was expected after a sharp rally in early 2025, when the market hit a record high of nearly $4.30 a pound. Brokerage firm Sucden Financial said technical indicators suggested prices could fall further in the near term.

The current coffee market reflects fluctuations in both supply and demand. Factors such as the crop yield in Vietnam, weather conditions in Brazil and monetary policies of central banks will continue to influence coffee prices in the coming period.

Domestic coffee prices may continue to rise if supplies remain uncertain and export demand remains high. Robusta is likely to recover but gains may be limited without further support. Meanwhile, Arabica may remain under pressure unless Brazil’s crop is lower than expected, leading to a stable or modest recovery.

In addition, monetary policy and fluctuations in the USD exchange rate will also directly affect coffee prices in the coming time.
