For the domestic market, farmers had a successful "closing year" with high coffee prices right from the beginning of the season, commonly around 110,000 - 130,000 VND/kg - an unprecedented high in history. A few years ago, the price of 50,000 VND/kg was the "dream" of coffee growers.

From now until May 2025, the world market depends on Vietnam's coffee supply, so as long as there is no massive selling, prices will remain high.

In Vietnam, entering the Lunar New Year holidays, most coffee transactions have stopped, many localities have finished this year's harvest and people and coffee growing businesses are focusing on the first watering and fertilizing to help coffee trees flower and bear fruit.

Based on market factors, experts predict that coffee prices tomorrow, January 31, 2025 (the 3rd day of Tet) will continue to remain high, and prices are likely to continue to increase tomorrow.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

March 2025 delivery: Up 2 USD/ton, to 5,562 USD/ton.

Delivery in May 2025: Up 22 USD/ton, to 5,543 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

March 2025 delivery: Up 6.6 cents/lb, to 364.1 cents/lb.

May 2025 delivery: Up 7.05 cents/lb, to 358.95 cents/lb.

The start of the fifth half of the week saw coffee prices on both markets marking a strong increase as last week's arabica closed at 347.55 cents, up 19.20 cents from the previous week.

In particular, the Robusta price that Vietnamese farmers are interested in has also increased as last week (week 4) closed at 5544 USD/ton, increasing to 538 USD/ton, not counting the new week at the beginning of the Lunar New Year when this news was released. In just 3 sessions of the new week (week 5), the Robusta price has increased by 16 USD/ton, reaching 5560 USD/ton when closing on Tuesday, January 28.

The reason is believed to be because farmers in the leading producing country Brazil are still reluctant to sell due to uncertainty about the upcoming crop and they hope prices will be even higher, in addition, the Vietnamese market is also closed for the Lunar New Year holiday, making the market even more lacking in sellers.

Robusta prices are supported by lower production. Vietnam’s coffee output in the 2023/24 crop year has fallen 20% to 1.472 MMT, the lowest in four years, due to drought. In addition, Vietnam’s General Statistics Office reported on January 10 that Vietnam’s coffee exports in 2024 have fallen 17.1% year-on-year to 1.35 million tons.
