Vietnam's General Department of Customs reported that Vietnam's cumulative exports in the first two months of the current coffee crop year (October 2024 to September 2025) were 983,000 bags, down 36.61%, year-on-year.

The reported year-on-year decline in exports could be due to delays in harvesting due to prolonged wet weather in the first two months of the crop year, while some other sources suspect that it is more likely due to a significant drop in production.

It is estimated that coffee export volume in the fourth quarter of 2024 will only reach about 160,000-170,000 tons. This figure is not only lower than previous months but also equal to the export volume of a December in previous years. This shows a serious downward trend in Vietnam's coffee supply.

Meanwhile, the global and domestic coffee markets are expected to continue to fluctuate, affected by various factors such as climate change, consumption demand and trade policy.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery March 2025: Down 88 USD/ton, to 4,968 USD/ton.

Delivery in May 2025: Down 80 USD/ton, to 4,897 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

March 2025 delivery: Down 8.2 cents/lb, to 318.65 cents/lb.

May 2025 delivery: Down 7.2 cents/lb, to 314.90 cents/lb.

Technically, it is believed that Robusta prices are showing signs of a downward reversal, and we may soon see the March market price return to the support level of $4,884/ton, possibly down to $4,816, at which point there will be bids and prices may rebound in a new short cycle from here.

Arabica coffee prices fell for a second straight week and hit a four-week low, as concerns about drought in Brazil eased after the country’s key arabica-producing region recorded above-average rainfall last week.

Additionally, the weakening of the Brazilian Real against the USD has fueled Brazilian selling.

According to I&M Smith, the climate in Brazil during the new crop season has improved significantly for much of December, thanks to rainfall and its even distribution across large coffee growing areas. Forecasts indicate that the rainfall will continue for the rest of the month, which is essential for the development of the new coffee crop.
