Two subjects in military uniforms claiming to be officers of the Criminal Police Department (CSHS) of the Ministry of Public Security read the arrest warrant and searched Ms. H's house. Out of suspicion, Ms. H called the ward police to come down and verify and discovered that two subjects were impersonating police officers to commit acts of extortion...
On August 30, District 11 Police, Ho Chi Minh City are detaining Tran Van Son (born in 1979), residing in Tan Binh District and Tran Hong Thai (born in 1983, from Hung Yen) to investigate and handle the act of "Extortion of property".
Before that, at about 10:00 p.m. on August 28, Ms. LTH (born in 1966), residing on Nhat Tao Street, Ward 7, District 11, was at home when a 7-seat car with blue license plate 80B-2547 stopped in front of her house.
Two people in police uniforms got out of the car and entered the house. One was a Major with a police identity card in the name of Tran Quyet Thang, the other was a Lieutenant but had no name tag and entered Ms. H's house. He claimed to work for the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security, read the arrest warrant and searched Ms. H's house.
All uniforms, papers and blue license plates were ordered online by the two subjects. |
Seeing two "officers" with full papers, search warrants, and even pistols, but arresting people and searching the house without following procedures because there were no representatives of the ward police or the neighborhood group, Ms. H's family became suspicious and called the police of ward 7, district 11.
Subject Tran Van Son. |
Ward 7 police coordinated with District 11 police's criminal police to go to the scene and ask people from the "Criminal Police Department" to check their identification papers.
After a while of raising their voices, the two "officers" presented their identification papers, including 2 ID cards, 1 industry card with the rank of colonel, 1 search warrant and 2 guns.
After checking, the industry card and search warrant were fake, so the police of Ward 7, District 11 brought these two "officers" to headquarters for clarification.
Subject Tran Hong Thai. |
At the investigation agency, the "fake" Major is named Tran Van Son (born in 1979), residing in Tan Binh district, and the "fake" Lieutenant is Tran Hong Thai (born in 1983), from Hung Yen.
Both subjects admitted that they were not police officers. The uniforms, badges, name tags, pistols and even the blue license plate with BKS 80B were ordered online by the two subjects. As for the 7-seat car, the two subjects rented it and attached the blue license plate.
The purpose of impersonating the Criminal Police Department was to go to Ms. H's house to carry out a plan to extort property. Because after researching the Nhat Tao area, they discovered many stores selling electronic goods, buying floating goods, of unknown origin, after investigating, they discovered that Ms. H's house was trading in these items, so the two subjects planned to extort property.
Documents collected from 2 subjects. |
When the arrest and search warrant was read, the two subjects asked Ms. H.'s family to give them 100-200 million VND to keep the matter quiet. However, while carrying out the act, the two subjects were exposed.
District 11 police suspect that with this method of impersonating police, the two subjects have committed a number of other crimes, so they are expanding the investigation of the case.
