President Tran Dai Quang's family requests exemption from receiving funeral money

The family of President Tran Dai Quang wishes to be exempted from receiving condolence money when individuals and organizations come to pay their respects.

The People's Committee of Ninh Binh province has just announced the implementation of a number of State funeral rituals for President Tran Dai Quang in the province.

No public entertainment activities will be held during the two days of national mourning (September 26-27).

Accordingly, the headquarters of agencies, offices, and enterprises must fly flags at half-mast, with mourning ribbons (1/10 the size of the flag's width, the length of the flag, and only hang the flag to 2/3 the height of the flagpole, using black cloth to tie it so it does not fly); no public entertainment activities are organized during the two days of national mourning (September 26-27).

The Provincial People's Committee also noted that delegations coming to pay their respects will be arranged to travel in a shared car; have a designated head of delegation; dress formally (men wear suits and dark ties; women wear black ao dai or formal, dark-colored clothing); do not bring handbags.

Delegations coming to pay their respects also do not bring wreaths, but only a black ribbon, 1.2 x 0.2 m in size, with the white words "respectful visits" and a small line with the name of the agency, organization, or individual to attach to the circulating wreath.

The announcement also stated: "The wish of President Tran Dai Quang's family is to be exempted from receiving condolence money from organizations and individuals when visiting the funeral."

Mr. Do Hung Son, Chairman of Kim Son District People's Committee, said that by noon on September 25, the locality had completed preparations for the President's funeral.

Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent a telegram to the heads of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities about stopping entertainment activities during the days of national mourning for President Tran Dai Quang.

Delegations visiting the locations of the funeral and memorial services at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi (where the coffin lies in state); Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City; Kim Son District People's Committee Hall, Ninh Binh Province, the delegations only wear mourning bands, not wreaths.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests central departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations, state administrative and public service agencies to stop or postpone organizing welcoming events, art programs, sports competitions and entertainment activities on September 26-27.
