Mr. Mai Xuan Du from Hoa Hiep commune, Xuyen Moc district, is raising 560 pigs, with the current selling price of 64-65 thousand VND/kg, expected profit of 1.5-1.7 million VND for each pig sold.
Mr. Du emphasized the importance of disease prevention in livestock farming, especially at the end of the year when cold weather can increase the risk of disease.
Preventive measures include disinfecting barns, vaccinating and periodically supplementing the pig herd with vitamins.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toa from Binh Ba commune, Chau Duc district, is also taking care of 50 pigs and 9 sows, hoping for a year-end selling season.
Mr. Toa carries out regular disinfection measures and vaccinates the pigs with a variety of vaccines to ensure the health of the pigs.
The provincial agricultural sector recorded that the livestock and poultry epidemic situation was well controlled, with a total of nearly 409 thousand pigs and 6.87 million poultry.
This output meets 40% of the province's demand and 60% is exported to other provinces.
Prices and demand for pork and chicken have increased in recent months.
This is a good opportunity for farms and households to restore their herds and expand production, especially in preparation for Tet.
Due to the erratic weather at the end of the year and the increased risk of disease, the agricultural sector recommends additional vaccination and disinfection of barns.
Farmers are also encouraged to apply biosafety farming methods and follow the chain to ensure stable output.
