In An Cu (Tien Giang), warehouse activities decreased, purchases were slow and prices increased slightly. In Sa Dec rice market (Dong Thap), the amount of imported rice decreased, there were few means of transportation and warehouses purchased slowly, many warehouses were closed.

In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), rice supply is low, few boats arrive and prices are stable, some warehouses closed early for the holiday.

The price of raw IR 504 Summer-Autumn rice is currently stable at 11,100 - 11,200 VND/kg. The price of finished IR 504 rice remains unchanged at 13,200 - 13,300 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices are adjusted as follows:

- Nang Nhen rice: 28,000 VND/kg.

- Jasmine rice: 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg.

- Nang Hoa rice: 20,000 VND/kg.

- Regular rice: 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg.

- Long grain Thai fragrant rice: 20,000 - 21,000 VND/kg.

- Jasmine rice: 20,000 VND/kg.

- Taiwanese fragrant rice: 21,000 VND/kg.

- Regular white rice: 17,000 VND/kg.

- Regular Soc rice: 17,500 - 18,000 VND/kg, down 500 VND/kg compared to before.

- Thai Soc rice: 21,000 VND/kg.

- Japanese rice: 22,000 VND/kg.

In the Mekong Delta region, paddy prices on September 1 increased from 100 to 200 VND/kg. Despite the increase in paddy prices, rice prices remained stable.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province: IR 50404 rice price today is from 7,900 to 8,000 VND/kg. Dai Thom 8 rice price is from 8,500 to 8,600 VND/kg, an increase of 100 VND compared to yesterday.

OM 5451 rice is priced from 8,200 to 8,400 VND/kg, up 200 VND. OM 18 rice is priced from 8,500 to 8,600 VND/kg, up 100 VND. OM 380 rice is stable at 7,800 VND/kg.

Japanese rice costs from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

Dried Nang Nhen rice is sold at 20,000 VND/kg.

The sticky rice market has not changed compared to yesterday. The price of IR 4625 sticky rice (fresh) is currently 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg, unchanged. An Giang sticky rice (fresh) is priced at 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg, unchanged from the previous day.

By-products have no price changes today. The price of OM 5451 broken rice is 9,200 - 9,300 VND/kg. The price of dry bran remains stable at 6,900 - 7,000 VND/kg.

Export rice price on September 1, 2024

Vietnam's rice export prices remained unchanged from yesterday, at $452 per ton for 100 percent broken rice, $575 per ton for 5 percent standard rice, and $535 per ton for 25 percent broken rice.

Vietnam's rice export revenue in 2024 is expected to exceed 5 billion USD thanks to large export order volume and rising rice prices.

In the first 7 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 5.18 million tons of rice, earning 3.27 billion USD, up 5.8% in volume and 25.1% in value over the same period in 2023.

In 2023, Vietnam's rice exports will reach nearly 4.7 billion USD, with an average price of 575 USD/ton, an increase of 18.26% compared to 2022.

India’s rice export ban has created a new price that is beneficial for major rice exporting countries, including Vietnam. Vietnam’s average rice export price in 2024 is $632/ton, up 18.2% year-on-year.

As of July 15, 2024, Vietnam had harvested about 25 million tons of rice, up 2% over the same period last year. Rice exports mainly come from provinces in the Mekong Delta.

In 2024, Vietnam is expected to produce about 43.4 million tons of paddy, enough to ensure national food security and export about 7.6 million tons of rice.
