Export rice price
Regarding exports, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable. 5% broken rice remained at $509 per ton, 25% broken rice at $477 per ton, and 100% broken rice at $405 per ton, according to the Vietnam Food Association.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Tung, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Phu Yen province, this locality is one of the provinces with the highest average rice yield in the South Central Coast region, reaching about 70 tons/ha. However, the rice production industry in Phu Yen still faces difficulties such as lack of its own brand, unsynchronized production process, uneven mechanization and application of science and technology, along with limited area of high-quality rice varieties. These challenges pose an urgent need to improve the efficiency and quality of the rice industry in the context of integration into domestic and international markets.
To solve the difficulties, Phu Yen's agricultural sector is accelerating the process of land consolidation and increasing the production scale per household. At the same time, the province is implementing measures to reduce production costs, apply intensive farming models (IPM, ICM, "3 reductions, 3 increases"), use certified rice varieties, reduce sowing density, apply balanced fertilization, increase the use of organic fertilizers and expand mechanization. The province also pays special attention to the application of drones in sowing, fertilizing and spraying pesticides, and at the same time invests in completing infrastructure for rice production.
Along with that, Phu Yen is promoting attracting businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas, encouraging production linkages with agricultural product consumption, building large fields according to current regulations, creating conditions for land accumulation. The province is reviewing and converting crops on inefficient rice land, while strengthening the capacity of rice seed production at the Agricultural Seed Center and cooperatives to ensure standard seed sources, aiming to build the Phu Yen rice brand.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Phu Yen is coordinating with units and localities to implement the project of restructuring the rice industry until 2025 and vision to 2030 according to Decision No. 97/QD-UBND dated February 8, 2023. In this process, the province takes advantage of new mechanisms and policies to gradually improve the quality and value of the rice industry.
The Provincial People's Committee has also approved the investment policy and selected Trung An High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company to implement the project "High-quality rice production linkage area, rice purchasing and processing for export in Phu Yen province". The project will build a cluster of rice processing factories for export, linked with high-quality organic rice material areas in Tay Hoa, Phu Hoa, Tuy An districts, Dong Hoa town and Tuy Hoa city. Thereby, the province expects to improve the quality of the rice value chain, expand the domestic and international markets, and move towards building Phu Yen's own rice brand.
