Steel prices have fallen for 16 consecutive periods; coffee and pepper prices have fallen sharply on the stock exchange.

(Baonghean.vn) - Closing prices of trading sessions on the market on August 16, prices of many items turned to decrease sharply, causing difficulties for businesses.

Steel prices have fallen for 16 consecutive sessions.

Today's steel price (August 16) for May 2024 delivery on the Shanghai exchange decreased by 13 yuan, down to 3,619 yuan/ton.

In this price reduction, Hoa Phat Steel reduced the price of D10 CB300 rebar by VND100,000/ton in all three regions. The adjusted prices in the three regions are VND14.04 million/ton, VND13.99 million/ton and VND13.89 million/ton, respectively. The price of CB240 coil steel remains the same as the previous adjustment.

The Viet Y brand also reduced the price of D10 CB300 rebar by VND100,000/ton, from VND13.89 million/ton to VND13.79 million/ton. Meanwhile, US steel decreased by VND200,000/ton to VND13.6 million/ton.

Similarly, steel brands in the North such as Viet Duc, Viet Sing, Viet Nhat, and Kyoei all adjusted the price of D10 CB300 steel by VND 100,000/ton.

In the Central region, the price of D10 CB300 rebar decreased by 100 VND/kg at the Viet Duc and Viet My brands. The Pomina brand alone decreased by 210,000 VND/ton, from 14.69 million VND/ton to 14.59 million VND/ton.

In the South, the price of D10 CB300 rebar decreased by VND100,000/ton at Viet My Steel, and VND210,000/ton at Pomina and Tung Ho brands. Meanwhile, Southern Steel has no new changes.

Steel prices continue to fall.

Thus, since the beginning of the year, domestic steel has had 16 consecutive price reductions. The Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) stated that the reason for the continuous decrease in steel prices in recent times is due to slow consumption. Currently, there are too few civil projects starting construction, and although highway projects have improved, they are not enough to help the steel market improve.

After 16 sessions of decline, today's steel prices are as follows:

Steel prices in the North: Hoa Phat steel price: CB240 coil steel remains at 14,040 VND/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar decreased by 100 VND/kg, down to 14,040 VND/kg.

Viet Y Steel price: CB240 coil steel line is at 13,740 VND/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar, down to 3,790 VND/kg.

Viet Duc Steel Price: CB240 coil steel line is at 13,840/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar is down to 13,990 VND/kg.

Steel prices in the Central region: Hoa Phat steel price: CB240 coil steel line is at 13,840 VND/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar decreased by 100 VND/kg, down to 13,890 VND/kg.

Viet Duc Steel Price: CB240 coil steel line is at 14,140 VND/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar decreased by 100 VND/kg, down to 14,340 VND/kg.

Pomina steel price: CB240 coil steel line is at 14,590 VND/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar decreased by 210 VND/kg, down to 14,480 VND/kg.

Steel prices in the South: Hoa Phat steel price: D10 CB300 rebar steel line is at 14,090 VND/kg, CB240 rolled steel decreased by 100 VND/kg, down to 14,140 VND/kg.

Southern steel prices: CB240 coil steel is still at 14,410 VND/kg, D10 CB300 ribbed steel is still at 14,620 VND/kg.

Pomina steel price: D10 CB300 rebar line at 14,690 VND/kg, CB240 coil steel decreased by 210 VND/kg, down to 14,480 VND/kg.

Viet My Steel: CB240 coil steel line remains at 13,700 VND/kg, with D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar line decreasing by 100 VND/kg, down to 13,600 VND/kg.

Coffee prices fell sharply compared to last week.

Domestic coffee prices on August 16 continued to decrease compared to the previous trading session. Coffee prices tended to decrease sharply compared to last week from 1,000-2,600 VND/kg depending on the locality. Specifically, the price reached 65,800 VND/kg in Dak Nong.

Specifically, coffee prices in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces stood at 65,000 VND/kg, down 2,600 VND/kg compared to the trading session on August 15. In Dak Nong province, the highest coffee purchase price was 65,800 VND/kg.

The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 65,000 VND/kg.

Today's coffee price in Dak Lak province today in Cu M'gar district, coffee price is currently at 65,600 VND/kg. Meanwhile in Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, it is purchased at the same price of 64,600 VND/kg.

On the world exchange, Robusta coffee prices on the London (UK) exchange in the latest trading session increased by 0.26%, ranging from 2,620 - 2,698 USD/ton depending on the delivery period.

Specifically, the price of coffee delivered in September 2023 reached 2,620 USD/ton, coffee delivered in November 2023 reached 2,435 USD/ton; coffee delivered in January 2024 reached 2,379 USD/ton and coffee delivered in March 2024 reached 2,349 USD/ton.

Arabica coffee prices on the New York Stock Exchange (USA) in the latest trading session decreased by 0.50% from 150.70 - 158.30 cents/lb depending on the delivery term. Of which, coffee for September 2023 delivery reached 151.10 cents/lb; December 2023 delivery reached 152.60 cents/lb; March 2024 delivery reached 153.95 cents/lb and May 2024 delivery reached 155.25 cents/lb.

Robusta coffee prices on the ICE Europe – London exchange continued to plummet in this trading session. Similarly, Arabica coffee prices on the ICE US – New York exchange fell for the fifth consecutive session.

Pepper price is at 70-72 thousand VND/kg

In the world market, at the end of the trading session on August 15, the International Pepper Community (IPC) updated the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 4,245.00 USD/ton, down 0.14%.

In most other countries, pepper prices continued to move sideways. Accordingly, the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 was at 3,350.00 USD/ton; the price of Kuching (Malaysia) black pepper ASTA remained at 4,900 USD/ton; the price of Malaysian white pepper ASTA remained at 7,300 USD/ton.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 3,500 USD/ton for 500 g/l, 3,600 USD/ton for 550 g/l; white pepper price is at 5,100 USD/ton.

According to data from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the volume of pepper imported by US businesses in May continued to decrease by 5.5% compared to the previous month and decreased by 30.4% compared to the same period last year to 5,701 tons.

Vietnam remained the number one pepper supplier to the US market in the first five months of the year with a volume of 22,414 tons, down 18.6% year-on-year and accounting for nearly 80% of the country's pepper imports.

With demand affected by inflation and interest rate hikes, US pepper imports from major markets generally decreased in the first months of this year.
