Domestic pepper prices are at a five-year high, up about 15–18% year-on-year. Farmers are encouraged to renovate old pepper gardens, apply sustainable farming, manage diseases well, and use fertilizers properly to reduce costs. Exporters should focus on investing in deep processing and clean processing to meet the strict requirements of high-end markets such as the EU, the US, and the Middle East.

Taking advantage of tariff incentives from free trade agreements such as EVFTA and CPTPP is very important. In addition, it is necessary to build a Vietnamese pepper brand associated with clear traceability. Combining short-term benefits with long-term strategies will help the pepper industry maintain growth, maintain its leading position and increase its value in the international market.

According to IPC's forecast, from September to December, when Vietnam's net exports fell sharply in the first half of the year, the ability to supply from inventories may improve. This is a factor supporting supply for the year-end period.

Indonesia and Brazil are also entering their peak harvest period. Stronger participation from all three major suppliers, Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil, could make the pepper export market more vibrant in the second half of 2025.

Pepper price today August 10 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on August 8 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,147 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,991 per tonne.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000/tonne.

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price increased slightly compared to yesterday, currently at 9,250 USD/ton (up 0.54%). In addition, the country's ASTA white pepper price remained unchanged compared to yesterday, reaching 12,500 USD/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950/ton.

According to a new IPC report, the northern Brazilian crop is expected to start in September, when many exporters are preparing to release their products. Inventories are low as exports have remained steady in the past. As harvests enter their peak period, exports are likely to pick up again.

In Indonesia, new crop production is forecast to decline, with some traders estimating a decline of as much as 30%. Harvesting takes place from late July to mid-August. Exports will continue during this period, but strong domestic demand could reduce the amount available for export, which could impact prices.

In Vietnam, the 2025 crop is generally favorable and was completed in April. The onset of the rainy season has brought positive flowering conditions, creating expectations for a positive 2026 crop if the weather remains favorable.

However, prolonged heat waves are still a risk factor that can affect the health of pepper plants and reduce productivity, requiring growers to pay more attention to garden care and protection measures.
