A representative of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) said that pepper prices fluctuated strongly in a short period of time, causing large export enterprises to be surprised and more cautious in buying and selling.
It is possible that businesses are short of goods for export, so they increase their purchases in a short period of time, causing prices to increase dramatically, especially as demand in the Chinese market increased last week. Meanwhile, the large amount of pepper that businesses and speculators smuggled into the market when prices peaked could be one of the reasons for the shocking price drop.
