Competition from other crops such as durian and coffee, along with the consequences of climate change, are making pepper prices unstable, the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPSA) said. Pepper output in the upcoming crop is expected to be equal to or slightly higher than that of 2024.
Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, Vice President of Chu Se Pepper Association, expressed his opinion that there is a lot of conflicting information about pepper production, with some predicting a decrease and others predicting an increase.
Some growers reported that they had no pepper harvest in the new season, while others expected a bumper crop. Mr. Binh predicted that pepper prices would likely continue to rise in the next four years due to lack of supply.

The fluctuation of pepper prices in Vietnam poses risks to both sellers and buyers.
Farmers may benefit from rising pepper prices, but hoarding the commodity in the hope of even higher prices could lead to losses if buyers source from other countries.
The sudden increase in Pepper prices has raised concerns about the unclear factors behind the change, as the market is not the main cause.
