Gasoline prices in the first adjustment period of 2017
Retail gasoline prices were kept unchanged in the first adjustment period of 2017, ignoring previous predictions of price increases.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance have just issued a document directing the management of retail gasoline prices. Accordingly, in the first adjustment of 2017, mineral gasoline and bio-fuel products will remain at 17,590 VND per liter for RON 92 gasoline and 17,320 VND per liter for E5 gasoline.

Meanwhile, diesel oil increased by 324 VND/liter to a maximum of 13,757 VND/liter, kerosene increased by 310 VND/liter to 12,253 VND/liter. Fuel oil increased by 493 VND/kg to 11,127 VND/kg.
Compared to the gasoline price adjustment period on December 20, 2016, the average price of finished gasoline products in the world during the gasoline price adjustment period on January 4 increased by 3.086 USD/barrel of RON 92 gasoline (equivalent to 4.9%); increased by 1.936 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel (equivalent to 3.1%); increased by 1.762 USD/barrel of kerosene (equivalent to 2.8%); increased by 8.566 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (equivalent to 2.6%).
However, the joint ministries still decided to keep gasoline prices unchanged during the period approaching Lunar New Year to ensure market stability.
The level of expenditure for the price stabilization fund for all petroleum products has also been adjusted. Accordingly, the level of deduction for mineral gasoline has decreased from 600 VND to 229 VND/liter, E5 gasoline has decreased from 600 VND to 567 VND; diesel and kerosene remain unchanged at 250 VND/liter and 450 VND/liter, respectively.
