Nghe An Newspaper Cup Youth Football Tournament 2019: Tan Ky Mountain Town actively trains troops

At Tan Ky district stadium, despite the hot weather these days, teachers and students of the TN-NĐ football teams are still actively practicing to prepare for the 23rd Nghe An Newspaper Cup.

The young athletes were engrossed in their training sessions, while the coaches closely followed them to adjust each technical movement. Outside the field, many parents, after dropping their children off at the field, stayed behind as regular spectators to watch the activities of both teachers and students. An eager training atmosphere was truly taking place here.

Mr. Pham Thanh Hai in Tan Hoa hamlet, Nghia Phuc commune, Tan Ky district, whose son Pham Xuan Tien was selected to join the team for training, said: "With a passion for playing football since childhood, I am very happy that he was selected to join the Children's team to participate in the Nghe An Newspaper Cup. His house is nearly 20km away, but I still take him there regularly, not letting him miss any training session."

In the lineup of ND Tan Ky this year, the most prominent and expected face is Ho Huu Nhat Sang from Ky Son commune. He is currently a member of the U11 SLNA team and will be the leader of ND Tan Ky in this upcoming season. The remaining faces are being trained by coach Mai Thai Uy.

Talking to us, Coach Mai Thai Uy said: “To prepare well for the Youth Football Tournament - Nghe An Newspaper Cup this year, in early May, although the players were still busy studying and taking exams, the coaching staff took advantage of the Saturday and Sunday off to select the team and enter the technical and tactical training phase. At that time, the teachers and students practiced 3 sessions a week, children on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and teenagers on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. From May 25 onwards, the children have been off school, so they have increased the number of practice sessions to 2 sessions a day. In particular, in the time before the competition, athletes will be mobilized for centralized training, in order to maximize the team spirit, study and practice of the players for the tournament”.

Talking about the difficulties in preparation, Coach Mai Thai Uy shared: “The truth is that both teams only have a few outstanding players, so we only know how to focus on training techniques and tactics for the whole team. The most difficult thing is that all the players are selected from localities in the district. As a mountainous district, many of the players are from remote communes such as Tan Hop, Tien Ky, Phu Son, Dong Van, the roads are difficult to travel, some places are up to 35km from the district center, so every time the team gathers for practice, it is very difficult for parents and players.”

Faced with the difficulties that the two teams are facing, Mr. Tran Xuan Phuong - Deputy Director of the Tan Ky District Culture and Sports Center said: "We have developed an early and specific training plan, assigned staff in charge to work with a high sense of responsibility, ready and proactive to compete. Secondly, the children are now on summer vacation, so we have arranged accommodation for them to practice. Avoid the situation of going home after practice, because many children live dozens of kilometers away and the road is difficult to travel."
