Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the West - Part 1: Poverty Alleviation - the Central Goal
(Baonghean.vn) - More than 10 years ago, Western Nghe An was a difficult area with poor infrastructure and a high poverty rate. Thanks to the State's investment support programs and the efforts of the entire political system, many communes in the mountainous areas of Nghe An have escaped poverty, and some communes in particularly difficult and border areas have reached the new rural destination.
The Government has had Program 135 to invest in communes in extremely disadvantaged mountainous areas; after 10 years of implementation, to adapt to the new context, from 2021, the above program was integrated and converted into Sustainable Poverty Reduction for Ethnic Minority Areas. In Nghe An, with 3/4 of its natural area being mountainous, including 5 extremely disadvantaged mountainous districts, hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and sustainable development of the West are the priority focus and challenging goals.
