Nghe An Buddhist Sangha surveys ancient pagodas
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to prepare materials for the compilation of the book "History of Buddhism in Nghe An", the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province organized surveys and field trips at many pagodas in the province.

Implementing the Resolution of the 2nd Congress of Buddhist Delegates of Nghe An Province, in order to have accurate documents and compile the book "History of Buddhism in Nghe An", the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province organized surveys and field trips to pagodas in the province to learn about history and collect information and artifacts...
The survey team included nearly 11 members led by Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac - Head of the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - Deputy Standing Committee of the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

In the past few days (November 15-19), the delegation worked at a number of pagodas in the districts of Nam Dan, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau, Quynh Luu... During the fieldwork and research, the delegation received all information about the pagodas from the abbots, Buddhists and knowledgeable elderly people in the localities.

Studying history and researching ancient artifacts in pagodas such as statues, steles, bells, woodblock prints, etc. is an activity that requires meticulousness and takes a lot of time.
Hopefully, through this survey and fieldwork, the Provincial Buddhist Sangha will collect the most accurate and complete source of information to complete the book "History of Nghe An Buddhism" in the near future.
