Nghe An Buddhist Sangha: Donated over 4 billion VND to support flood victims
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 13, at Diec Pagoda (Vinh City), the Executive Committee of Nghe An Buddhist Sangha held a Conference to summarize Buddhist activities in 2016 and deploy the direction of activities in 2017.
Attending the conference were Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, Deputy Permanent Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac, Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Cultural Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Permanent Member of the Executive Committee of the Nghe An Buddhist Sangha.

In 2016, monks, nuns and Buddhists in the province have continuously promoted the spirit of patriotism, actively participated in patriotic emulation movements; strictly followed the provisions of the law; religious activities took place in a healthy and righteous manner, ensuring civility in places of worship; strived to build a civilized lifestyle, eliminate cumbersome customs, and well implemented the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas"; mobilized dozens of tons of rice and essential food with a total value of over 4 billion VND to support flood victims in and outside the province.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Long - Deputy Head of the Provincial Religious Committee praised the contributions of monks, nuns and Buddhists in the development process of the province; hoped that the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province would continue to promote its role in guiding monks, nuns and Buddhists to practice religion in accordance with the motto and purpose of Buddhism; continue to coordinate with local authorities in activities to encourage learning, encourage talents, and help single-parent families and those in difficult circumstances.
