Media Exchange 'Reducing Gender Imbalance at Birth'

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of July 7, at Hung Nguyen Town, the Provincial Department of Population and Family Planning organized a communication exchange on "Reducing gender imbalance at birth".

This is an activity to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of World Population Day on July 11. Participating in the program were leaders of the Department of Health, the Department of Population - Family Planning, specialized officers, and population propagandists of 21 districts, cities, and towns.

At the ceremony, Mr. Duong Dinh Chinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Population and Family Planning, reiterated the significance of World Population Day. This is the day 30 years ago, the world population reached 5 billion people. In the face of the rapid population growth, the World Population Forum chose July 11 as World Population Day. The purpose is to remind countries and every person living on earth about the risk of rapid population growth, people not being able to live with their full legitimate rights.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of World Population Day, the United Nations Population Fund has chosen the theme “Family Planning: Empowering People and Developing Prosperous Nations”. This is a clear and powerful message calling on countries and policy makers to commit to focusing on investing in family planning to improve health and contribute to the realization of rights for women and couples around the world.

In Nghe An, World Population Day was celebrated with many meaningful activities. Particularly at the media night "Reducing gender imbalance", units sent many art performances and elaborately staged skits. Through this, it aimed to consolidate and improve knowledge about population and family planning work and train skills in organizing communication and education activities for specialized staff and collaborators of population and family planning in units with high gender imbalance at birth, contributing to the good implementation of population and family planning work targets of the province.

On this occasion, the Department of Population and Family Planning presented 10 gifts to 10 families of Hung Nguyen district that have implemented the population policy well.
