More than 500 teachers and students participate in the contest 'Be a girl to shine'

On the morning of December 20, in Do Luong district, the Department of Population - Family Planning coordinated with the Medical Center - Department of Education and Training of Do Luong district to organize the contest "Be a girl to shine".
Also attending were comrades: Nguyen The Ha - Director of the Center for Information and Data Research - Department of Population - Ministry of Health; Nguyen Ba Tan - Head of the Department of Population - Family Planning of the province, leaders of Do Luong district and a number of related departments and offices.

This is a meaningful activity in response toNational Action Month on Populationand Vietnam Population Day December 26.
Participate in the contest"Be a girl to shine"More than 500 teachers and students from 3 secondary schools Le Hong Phong, Tru Son and Dai Son of Do Luong district went through 3 competitions (greeting, knowledge, talent).
Through the competitions, the teams conveyed the message of “Enhancing the role and status of girls, contributing to reducing gender imbalance at birth”. When properly cared for and protected, girls have great potential to change and develop the world.

In his opening speech, Mr. Phan Thanh Dong - Director of Do Luong District Medical Center emphasized: According to statistics from the World Health Organization, adolescents account for 1/5 of the world's population. In Vietnam, about 20% of the population is between the ages of 10-19. This group is facing many problems related to adolescent reproductive health, gender imbalance at birth...
Compared to men, today's society is more concerned with specific policies for girls, but there are still prejudices and discrimination between men and women, and problems of violence, abuse, and gender inequality still occur.

Through this activity, we contribute to raising awareness, changing people's concepts and behaviors on gender issues, contributing to reducing gender imbalance at birth. Thereby, motivating and encouraging girls to be confident and strive to exercise their rights to equality in the future.

The contest "Be a girl to shine" is organized with the aim of creating a playground and opportunity for healthy, useful and practical exchange for high schools in Do Luong district.
This is also an opportunity for students to demonstrate their talents, intelligence, creativity and access accurate and reliable information about reproductive health care. At the same time, it helps girls improve their understanding, knowledge and basic life skills; have awareness of protecting their own health, have a healthy and pure lifestyle; maintain the innocent and lovely features of school age and is a provision to help them be more confident when entering life.

The contest aims to raise the understanding of leaders and people about the policies and laws of the Party and State related to population work; the role and importance of girls in life. At the same time, it raises the responsibility of individuals, families and society in paying attention to issues of discrimination and violence against women and children.
At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to Le Hong Phong Secondary School; the remaining two teams, Dai Son Secondary School and Tru Son Secondary School, shared the Second Prize.
