Besides the achievements, ensuring gender equality between men and women still has many shortcomings and challenges, including the current population and development field. These are the situation of male preference and female discrimination, and the situation of gender imbalance at birth.

From this reality, at the communication program, the leader of the Department of Population - Family Planning hopes that departments, branches and local authorities need to strengthen propaganda and education with many suitable contents and forms so that society can support and gradually eliminate the distinction between boys and girls in the concept of many people; focus on gender prejudice, the psychology of preferring boys over girls, and further promote the participation of men for gender equality.

It is necessary to continue to strengthen propaganda and education about the current situation, causes and consequences of gender imbalance at birth. Promote the role and enhance the status of women and girls, mobilize people to change their thinking, awareness and actions on the issue of gender imbalance at birth by strengthening propaganda and dissemination of documents, guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and State such as: Law on Gender Equality; Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence; Law on Marriage and Family, etc.
