Associate Professor Matthew Kroenig from Georgetown University explained that the US and other countries, concerned about Pyongyang's ballistic missile tests, need to put pressure on businesses doing business with North Korea instead of focusing only on the Northeast Asian country.

“The US has a range of tools at its disposal, so one of the tools that the Trump administration has decided to implement is secondary sanctions. So it’s not Washington directly threatening North Korea, but essentially putting pressure on businesses and banks that do business with North Korea,” said Kroenig.

North Korea, along with 26 other countries, including Australia, China, India, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and the US, will participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum. At the meeting on August 7, North Korea is expected to face pressure to stop ballistic missile tests./.
