Associate Professor Matthew Kroenig from Georgetown University explained that the US and other countries, concerned about Pyongyang's ballistic missile tests, need to put pressure on businesses doing business with North Korea instead of focusing only on this Northeast Asian country.

“The US has a range of tools at its disposal, so one of the tools that the Trump administration has decided to implement is secondary sanctions. So it’s not Washington directly threatening North Korea, it’s basically putting pressure on businesses and banks that do business with North Korea,” Kroenig said.

North Korea, along with 26 other countries, including Australia, China, India, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and the United States, will participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum. At the meeting on August 7, North Korea is expected to face pressure to stop its ballistic missile tests./.
