Amid FIFA ban, Hoang Anh Gia Lai renews contract with foreign player

November 29, Club fanpageHoang Anh Gia Laihas announced a two-year contract extension with midfielder Marciel Silva, lasting until the end of the 2026/2027 season.

This decision was made in the context that Hoang Anh Gia Lai is under a transfer ban from FIFA but has not violated any regulations. In this ban, the team is still allowed to extend contracts with current players and is only not allowed to register new players in professional and semi-professional leagues during the time of serving the ban.

Before the 2024-2025 season, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club recruited 2 new foreign players, including Marciel Silva and Jeferson Elias. Marciel Silva is completely new to Vietnamese football in the V-League. Also because this is the first time coming to Vietnam to play, this Brazilian midfielder was only signed a short-term contract by the mountain town team from August 2024.

After playing and impressing in the past 9 rounds, the 1.86 m tall player has 2 goals and 2 assists.

Vietnam team increased 3 places on FIFA rankings

On November 29, the Vietnam Football Federation informed that the International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced the rankings of national teams in the world. Accordingly,Vietnam teamranked 116th, up 3 places on the world rankings and ranked 21st in Asia.

The reason for this "jump" of the Vietnamese team despite not having a match is due to the change in rankings of other countries. Specifically, Guinea-Bissau, Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan are the teams that have fallen behind the Vietnamese team in the FIFA rankings in November 2024.

In Asia, Japan (FIFA rank 15) is still the highest ranked team. Following behind are Iran (18) and South Korea (23).

The highest ranked Southeast Asian team is Thailand (97th), down 1 place from the previous update.

Vietnam Ministry of Public Security to host 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open

The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship is hosted by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam Police Sports Association and the World Police Taekwondo Federation (WPTF). With the slogan “The Power of Police! Police Taekwondo - global citizen protectors”, the tournament will take place from December 6 to December 9, at the Quang Ninh Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium.

According to the Organizing Committee, the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.

The tournament opening ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. on December 6 at the Quang Ninh Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium (Dai Yen Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh) and promises to bring a vibrant and colorful atmosphere, opening the days of exciting competition for athletes from more than 20 countries and territories.

The tournament is held to honor the solidarity of Police Taekwondo worldwide; to strengthen and enhance the position of Police Taekwondo in Vietnam and of the World Police Taekwondo Federation in the effort for the health, safety and happiness of people around the world.

From December 7 to December 9, athletes will officially compete in 16 combat weight categories, 5 boxing events, 5 offensive events; self-defense skills, attack and martial arts performance./.
