Having given birth to 6 children, but now, at the age of 73, having lived more than half of her life, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ky in Yen Phu hamlet, Van Thanh commune, Yen Thanh is still living in a dilapidated, old house left by her husband's parents. He passed away more than a year ago due to lung cancer, her 6 children are slow and poor, so for many years she has been raising her children, and when her children go to work far away, she turns to raising her grandchildren.
“My son went to work in the South, leaving his grandmother to help raise him. He had glomerulonephritis and had been treated for many years. My grandfather passed away but the debt for treatment had not been paid. Luckily, thanks to the kindness of our neighbors and relatives, we have not had the money to pay it back and no one has the heart to ask for it. But my husband and I have not been able to maintain the house for many years, so we had to accept it. Now my grandmother and I are still living here, and I sincerely hope that benefactors will help and support me in building a new house, even a small one, so that I don’t have to worry about leaks every time it rains,” she said sadly.
