According to the decision issued by the Hanoi People's Committee, schools are not allowed to collect contributions from parents for minor repairs or purchase of teaching equipment. This has been a fairly common collection in most schools up to now.
In fact, in recent years, voluntary contributions for repairs or equipment purchases have caused a lot of frustration for parents when some schools "took advantage" to overcharge.
At the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training discovered and handled nearly 20 schools that had collected fees that were not in accordance with regulations.
