Hanoi morning of October 1: Dozens of flooded areas still block many streets
After the circulation of storm Bualoi, Hanoi still has many flooded areas, making traffic difficult and people have to move carefully.
As of 6 a.m. on October 1, Hanoi Drainage Company Limited recorded that many streets in the Nhue River basin were still submerged in water.
Seriously flooded areas include Duong Dinh Nghe, Hoa Bang, Phan Van Truong, Resco area, Vo Chi Cong, Phu Xa, Thang Long Avenue underpass (Km9+656, gates 5, 6), General Department V intersection, Cau Buu, Trieu Khuc, Yen Nghia and Quyet Thang. In these areas, deep water makes it difficult for vehicles to move.
In the To Lich river basin, most of the roads have been cleared for traffic, but local flooding still occurs in Thai Ha, Huynh Thuc Khang and Nguyen Chinh.
The Ta Hong area continues to have rising water at Hoang Nhu Tiep, Co Linh, Dam Quang Trung and Ngoc Lam. People traveling through these roads need to pay special attention to safety.
A representative of the Hanoi Drainage Company said that maximum force has been mobilized to handle the situation. Staff and vehicles have been deployed at many flooded areas, coordinating with authorities to help people get through deeply flooded areas.
To reduce the water level, all 20 pumps at Yen So station and many large pumping stations such as Cau Buu, Dong Bong, Co Nhue, Da Sy were operated at full capacity. However, due to the unusually high water level, some stations such as Dong Da lake, Xa Dan lake, Den Lu lake or Thanh Cong lake were forced to temporarily stop to remove the pumps.
According to forecasts, Hanoi will continue to experience moderate to heavy rain on October 1, combined with storm circulation that may make flooding more complicated. Many flooded areas are warned to be prolonged, directly affecting the lives and activities of the capital's residents.
