Serious landslides at many residential areas in Ba Vi and Suoi Hai forced Hanoi to declare an emergency situation and immediately deploy measures to protect people's safety.

On September 30, 2025, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen signed Decision No. 4909/QD-UBND, officially declaring a natural disaster emergency at serious landslide sites in Suoi Hai commune and Ba Vi commune, Ba Vi district.

Threat to the safety of many households

According to records, the landslide situation is complicated at Hoc Cua Lake (Cua Chu village), Xam Hamlet (village 9), Village 1 and Village 6 of Suoi Hai Commune, along with Yen Son and Hop Nhat villages of Ba Vi Commune. These locations are all at risk of directly affecting the safety of many households living near the area.

Faced with this situation, the Hanoi People's Committee requested the immediate application of emergency measures to respond and overcome the consequences. Warnings, barricades, signs, ropes and sent guards were urgently deployed to prevent people from entering dangerous areas.

Local authorities are tasked with reviewing, mobilizing and resolutely relocating households in landslide areas, while also propagating to help people recognize signs of risk, as well as equipping them with prevention skills. For households forced to leave, the authorities will soon develop a plan to support their lives and arrange resettlement, to ensure stability for people after natural disasters.

Deploy emergency projects

The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the People's Committees of Suoi Hai and Ba Vi communes to proactively implement emergency construction measures if necessary to ensure absolute safety for people's lives and property. The two communes must also be responsible for the results of inspections, assessments and regular reporting to the City People's Committee.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment will coordinate with localities, based on the development of natural disasters and the results of incident handling, to advise the Chairman of the City People's Committee to issue a decision to end the emergency situation when safety conditions are guaranteed.

Troubleshooting at Hoc Cua Lake

Song Tich Irrigation Company Limited was assigned to inspect and evaluate the current status of works at Hoc Cua reservoir, and coordinate with the Management and Maintenance Board of Agricultural and Environmental Works to implement the project to repair the spillway and water intake of this reservoir according to current regulations.

The urgent move by the Hanoi People's Committee shows its determination to ensure absolute safety for people in Suoi Hai and Ba Vi areas, while minimizing damage from natural disasters in the context of increasingly unpredictable weather.
