Hateful for his unfaithful wife, Mong man decides to 'get rich' from drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - In the indictment, Va Ba Di's wife was dead, but during the conversation while the panel of judges deliberated, Di said that his wife had left him to marry another man, so to him, his wife had died a long time ago.
The trial of Va Ba Di (born in 1992), residing in Muong Long commune, Ky Son, for the crimes of “Illegal drug trafficking” and “Illegal possession of military weapons” took place quite quickly. Di admitted all the crimes as charged by the Provincial People’s Procuracy.

In 2013, Aunt got married. In 2014, her first child was born. When the child was just over 1 year old, Aunt's wife left. That was the most difficult time in Aunt's life. His wife left without caring about the child, and it was rumored that she had remarried. The new husband was richer than Aunt, so she did not have to suffer and work hard with the plum trees, rice fields, and cows like when she lived with Aunt. Aunt hated, hated the unfaithful woman, hated her own generational poverty. And Aunt was determined to get rich.
In this “heaven’s gate” land, if you work hard and hoe hard, you will only be lucky enough to eat. My aunt has another way to get rich quickly without having to work too hard or suffer too much. If she is lucky, it can be equal to dozens, even hundreds of times climbing plum trees to pick plums and bring them back to the lowlands to “pick up” each coin.
In July 2016, Auntie was given 8 sports bullets by a Thai man. She bought 41 more bullets and hid them in her house to… trade drugs. In mid-September 2016, Auntie’s friend took her to a Mong man’s house and gave her 12 bags of crystal meth, an AK gun, 177 AK bullets, 4 grenades and 2 scales. The Mong man asked Auntie to keep the above goods for him “if anyone asks to buy, I will sell them for you, and you will be paid for the sale”. Auntie agreed.
On the morning of October 23, 2016, Va Ba Hai (residing in Nam Can commune, Ky Son) called his aunt to ask to buy drugs. His aunt "priced" a bag of drugs at 6 million VND. Hai made an appointment to come see the goods the next day before buying. At around 3:00 p.m. on October 24, 2016, Hai went to his aunt's house, and while testing drugs, he was caught red-handed by the Ky Son district police. In addition to 12 packages of synthetic drugs weighing 234.95g, the police also seized 1 AK gun, 177 AK bullets, 41 Carbine bullets, 4 grenades, 8 sports bullets, 3 ammunition boxes, 1 small scale, and 1 electronic scale.
At the trial, Va Ba Di did not argue about the crime, did not argue about the sentence, only hoped that the panel of judges would consider so that Di would have the opportunity to return to her children soon.
“Where are you now?” I asked. “You live with your grandmother” (your father is currently serving a sentence at Xuan Ha Prison, Ha Tinh - PV). “Has your mother come to visit you?” “No, sister. She hasn’t come to visit you since she left. She’s remarried.” My aunt replied, her eyes staring unblinkingly at the door. It’s not too difficult to understand why my aunt told the officer that his wife was dead! Today, none of my aunt’s relatives attended the trial. Since his arrest, no one has come to visit him in the detention camp.
The panel of judges determined that Aunt’s crime was particularly dangerous, infringing on the state’s monopoly on drug management, negatively affecting the security situation in the area, causing racial degradation, possessing a large number of military weapons… It was necessary to impose a severe sentence, commensurate with the defendant’s crime as well as being enough to deter those who intend to commit crimes. However, it was also necessary to consider mitigating circumstances such as remorse, honest confession, the crime had not yet generated profit…
Considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the panel sentenced Va Ba Di to 16 years in prison for “Illegal drug trafficking” and 2 years in prison for “Illegal possession of military weapons”. Combined, Va Ba Di must serve an 18-year prison sentence.
