Dozens of people rescue oyster rafts swept away by flood in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - After discovering that people's oyster rafts were swept away by floodwaters, blocking the mouth of the Thuong Xa culvert in Nghi Quang commune, the Nghi Loc District Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control mobilized forces to clear and circulate the flow.

Early in the morning of September 3, the operation team of the Thuong Xa sluice gate, Nghi Loc district irrigation enterprise, discovered a mass of aquaculture rafts floating on Cau Kiet river, heading towards the sluice gate. The operation team informed the owner of the farm, Mr. Tran Viet Phuc in Nghi Tan ward, Cua Lo town, but the efforts to pull and anchor the raft were unsuccessful.
As a result, all four oyster rafts with a total area of 2,000 m2Mr. Phuc's work blocked the six sluice gates leading to Thuong Xa, blocking the flood flow.
Upon receiving the news, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and related departments of Nghi Loc district worked with the leaders of Nghi Quang commune and Nghi Tan ward, Cua Lo town, requesting Mr. Phuc's family to urgently dismantle the oyster raft and restore the flow.

Due to the large upstream water flow, the clearance of the floating rafts had to be carried out quickly. The Nghi Loc District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue mobilized officers and soldiers of the Nghi Loc District Military Command and Police, officers, civil servants, militia, Nghi Quang Commune Police, Nghi Loc District Irrigation Enterprise to coordinate with the authorities and militia of Nghi Tan Ward to support Mr. Phuc's family in dismantling and moving the oyster rafts out of the three-ra culvert.

After nearly 3 hours of urgent troubleshooting, all 4 oyster rafts of Mr. Phuc's family were dismantled and moved out of the Thuong Xa sluice gate area. By 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, the 6 sluice gates of this sluice gate were reopened, releasing floodwaters to the downstream area of Cau Kiet River.
Currently, there is no information about the cause of the 4 oyster rafts of Mr. Tran Viet Phuc's family being swept away as well as the property damage caused by the incident.
