Dozens of people in an apartment building in Vinh City suffered from diarrhea possibly due to a leaking water tank.
Through inspection, authorities discovered that the water tank in this apartment building was leaking, allowing water from outside to flow inside.
On October 4, Mr. Hoang The Tung - Director of Vinh City Medical Center said that until now, there are still no test results of domestic water samples taken at the hospital.Golden City 3 apartment(Nghi Phu commune). However, through initial inspection, the cause of the poisoning has been identified.
This is an apartment building where dozens of people have shown symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, etc., suspected to be caused by contaminated water. "It took 2 weeks to get the test results. However, after checking, we have determined the cause," said Mr. Tung, adding that this apartment building has a water tank built underground. Water from the water plant is poured here, then pumped to the households in the apartment building.
"After the incident, we pumped all the water out of the tank, but after a while, we saw water coming back in. That means the tank was leaking, allowing water from outside to flow in. At that time, there was a flood, so the outside water source could have been polluted and flowed into this clean water tank," said Mr. Tung. After the incident, this water tank has been discontinued.
Earlier, on the morning of September 26, Vinh City Medical Center received a report that a series of residents in the Golden City 3 apartment building had symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. This apartment building has about 350 people/107 households living there.
During 2 days (September 25-26), 59 people/36 households showed symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, mainly treated, rested at home and recovered on their own; 3-4 people went to the hospital for examination and are now stable; currently, people no longer have symptoms, go to work and school normally./.
