High-end electrical appliances attract customers

Big brands that have been established in the market always receive a lot of attention.

Since mid-May, the scorching heat has covered the entire North. In Hanoi, the refrigeration market has really entered the “season”. According to representatives of many electronics supermarkets, high-end refrigeration products have been and are very “attractive” to customers.

Purchasing power skyrocketed

This year, the hot season came later than in previous years. But after only a few days of prolonged hot weather, with temperatures approaching 40 degrees, the number of customers looking to buy refrigeration products skyrocketed.

At large electronics supermarkets like Media Mart, sales of cooling products: air conditioners, refrigerators, fans... increased by more than 200% compared to the same period last month. The group of fans, blenders, ice cream makers... increased by about 300%. Over the past weekend alone, due to the intense heat, the number of customers buying air conditioners and fans increased 4-5 times compared to other weekends.

The high demand is not beyond the expectation of supermarkets, they have stocked up on goods in advance so there is no shortage of goods in the warehouse. Refrigeration retail stores on Minh Khai Street, Cau Giay also have a 60-70% increase in customers compared to last month.

The sharp increase in demand has caused many supermarkets and stores to not have enough workers to install the machine. In many cases, customers have to wait 1-2 days after purchasing the machine to have it installed, and in cases of repair, it can take up to 2-3 days.

Regarding prices, according to a representative of the Media Mart electronics supermarket: All types of air conditioners and refrigerators have increased slightly compared to the same period last year, from 3-5%. However, this does not affect the purchasing power of consumers. Even on peak days, prices at retail stores outside can increase by 7-10% but the goods are still consumed continuously.

High-end goods attract customers

Currently, the refrigeration market is still mainly divided into 3 main segments: The first segment is high-end products imported completely from factories in Thailand or Malaysia such as: Panasonic, Fujitsu, Daikin... The second segment is domestically assembled joint venture products of Funiki, LG, Samsung... The last segment is products from China such as Midea, Denso, Gree...

“However, customers are mainly interested in the first segment, especially products with brands: Daikin, Panasonic”. This is the general opinion of large supermarkets such as Media Mart, Pico, HC... and retail stores in Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan, Cau Giay districts. Customers mainly buy 9,000 BTU - 12,000 BTU models with an average price of 8 - 12 million.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - owner of a company specializing in distributing Daikin air conditioners - said: "Refrigeration is a product with long-term use. Buyers mainly pay attention to the quality, durability, and features of the goods. Therefore, big brands that have been affirmed in the market always receive a lot of attention."

In fact, products manufactured entirely abroad have much better quality than domestically assembled products. In addition, large companies also have a wide distribution network, easily meeting customer needs, even in installation and after-sales warranty.

Meanwhile, the low-end segment is gradually losing its “position” in the market, and the number of customers looking to buy these types is not much. Many models have been out of stock for a long time, but shop owners are no longer interested in importing more. This shows a change in the trend of using refrigeration products by Hanoi consumers./.
