(Baonghean.vn) - Prolonged heavy rain in early August 2020 caused flooded fields, saving thousands of hectares of drought-stricken rice in Nghe An.

Mr. Tran Nguyen Hoa - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nghi Loc district said: The circulation of storm No. 2 has caused widespread rain, a "golden rain" that has saved thousands of hectares of rice that are suffering from severe drought in the locality. According to preliminary statistics, the rain in early August has saved 3,000 hectares of drought-stricken rice, of which 1,000 hectares are at risk of drying out. Meanwhile, Hung Yen Bac commune - the driest locality in Hung Nguyen district - was also "rescued" by the rain caused by storm No. 2. The leader of Hung Yen Bac commune said: The whole commune has 150 hectares of rice severely affected by drought, there was a time when it seemed like everything was lost because it was impossible to find a water source, but fortunately, the golden rain poured down, so the rice area was basically saved in time.
