On the afternoon of August 11, more than 100 officers and soldiers of Tien Giang Provincial Police and Chau Thanh District Police had to temporarily block National Highway 1 through the district, open fire to control and arrest dozens of students who escaped from the Compulsory Drug Rehabilitation Center (under the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs).
Some students were arrested again.
Police blocked the road and opened fire to control the rioting students.
According to initial information, early in the morning of the same day, because the staff of the Drug Rehabilitation Center distributed meals 10 minutes earlier to the students, a conflict arose between the staff of the center and a few students. After that, dozens of other students violently attacked the staff. Despite clear explanations, the number of extremist students increased, leading to the situation of more than 100 students escaping the camp.
Tien Giang Provincial Police mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers to search for them. After leaving the school, the students used bricks, stones, sticks... as weapons and followed the trails to Highway 1, heading towards Trung Luong.
At nearly 12 o'clock, hundreds of police officers temporarily blocked the road and opened fire to suppress and arrest dozens of subjects. The rest escaped into people's gardens. Police are hunting for the remaining students. It is known that this compulsory drug rehabilitation center currently has more than 600 students. The number of students who escaped is unknown.
