Hundreds of Nghe An martial artists compete with Thailand and Laos at the Youth Karate Tournament
(Baonghean.vn) - 500 martial artists from Nghe An, Laos, Thailand, Quang Binh province and military clubs will compete in two individual and team events.
On the afternoon of March 30, at the Nghe An Provincial Sports Competition Center, the Provincial Karate Association opened the 3rd Nghe An Open Youth Karate Championship 2019.
This year's tournament has more than 500 athletes from 32 units, Karate clubs in Nghe An and young Karate clubs from Laos, Thailand, the Army and Quang Binh. The athletes will compete in 2 categories: individual and team Kata - Kumete.

This is an annual tournament to promote and develop the Karate training movement in the whole province; create opportunities for athletes to practice and compete, improve their professional skills. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to discover and select talented athletes, creating a source for the provincial karate team.

The tournament also gathered 30 national referees out of a total of 50 referees on duty at the tournament. Chairman of the Nghe An Karate Association, head of the tournament's organizing committee - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said: "Compared to previous tournaments, the number of athletes participating this year has increased significantly. The presence of Karate clubs in Laos and Thailand participating in the tournament is proving that the attraction of the tournament is increasing."
The tournament took place over 3 days from March 29 to March 31. At the end of today's competition day, the teams from Dong Hieu Secondary School, Thai Hoa Town and Tan Ky Secondary School had many athletes achieving results, temporarily leading the overall rankings.
