Assault and extortion of lawyer's fees
Nguyen Van Tung dragged people to his house to assault and extort 50 million VND in defense fees from the lawyer.
On March 20, Tung was prosecuted by Thanh Xuan District Police to investigate the crime.Extortion,according to Article 170 of the 2015 Penal Code.

According to the investigation results, on February 26, 2017, a lawyer signed a legal service contract to defend Tung's brother when he was accused ofIllegal possession of drugswith a deal of 60 million VND. Tung's brother later received a sentence of 6 years and 6 months in prison.
In July 2019, Tung and some people went to the lawyer's house in Thanh Xuan district to ask for the return of 50 million VND, but the request was not accepted. Tung repeatedly came to curse, threaten, and demand the money back.
On February 22, Tung again brought people to injure the victim’s lawyer and colleagues. When the lawyer offered 30 million VND, he refused and demanded the full amount. Five days later, Tung came to receive the remaining money and was arrested by the police following the lawyer’s report.
Police are investigating the actions of the remaining people in the case.
