Most of the wounded and sick soldiers here have a disability rate of over 80%, making daily activities extremely difficult. However, they still maintain an optimistic spirit in life. In the photo, Mr. Tran Viet Sang is happy when his wife comes to visit. He is a military engineer who fought on the Cambodian battlefield. He was injured in 1980, causing blindness in both eyes and having to amputate both legs, with a disability rate of up to 95%. Photo: Le Thang

Ms. Nguyen Thi Luong (born in 1950) was once a girl pursued by many boys in Thanh Ngoc, Thanh Chuong. However, because of the sacred call of the Fatherland, she joined the fight in Gia Lai (Kon Tum) and was injured in 1973 after being hit by an enemy bomb. Now, although she is not married and has a 96% disability, she is still optimistic because she always has her comrades and close friends who went through life and death together. Photo: Hai Vuong
