On the morning of May 20, in Thanh Tien commune (Thanh Chuong), the Provincial Farmers' Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district to organize a conference to summarize the Project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to apply environmentally friendly rice cultivation" for the period 2021-2023.

Accordingly, the project was implemented in Thanh Khai and Thanh Tien communes (Thanh Chuong district) with 160 households participating in the project.

Over the past 3 years, to equip farmers participating in the project with knowledge and techniques for environmentally friendly rice cultivation, the Provincial Farmers' Association Project Management Board has coordinated with the District Agricultural Service Center to organize 6 training courses for 120 members; organized 8 communication conferences on environmentally friendly rice cultivation for 160 core farming households participating in the project and 80 other farming households in the project implementation area.

Accordingly, farmers are trained in the following contents: Knowledge about environmentally friendly rice cultivation; instructions on appropriate fertilization techniques (reducing nitrogen fertilizer); instructions on how to select demonstration fields, how to operate and monitor demonstration fields; instructions on soil preparation techniques; soaking, seedling making, and seedling care techniques; techniques for caring for and preventing pests and diseases for rice plants in each stage of growth and development; Training on an overview of post-harvest straw treatment techniques; Training on alternating wet and dry irrigation techniques.

At the same time, support and direct the implementation of the construction of 6 demonstration models of environmentally friendly rice cultivation, with a scale of 1,000m2 /model in 2 localities implementing the model. After 3 production seasons, it was shown that the rice plants grew well, had strong tillering ability, were resistant to pests and diseases, and had larger panicles; the actual yield reached 3.2-3.4 quintals/sao, 30 kg/sao higher than the control field; production costs were reduced, and economic efficiency was 20-23% higher than the control field.

Up to now, in the two communes of Thanh Khai and Thanh Tien, 180 farming households have been mobilized to apply environmentally friendly rice cultivation, on a scale of 20 hectares. After 3 years of implementing the project "Propaganda and mobilization of farmers to apply environmentally friendly rice cultivation", the awareness of officials, members and farmers in Thanh Chuong has changed towards improved rice cultivation in the direction of ecological and sustainable agriculture to adapt to climate change, improve the environment and save production costs.
