With the topic “Improving time management skills for students of Vinh University to meet the requirements of the CDIO training model”, Khanh Ly said that the group spent a lot of time collecting information. “Currently, there are many scientific research works from different perspectives on the CDIO training model - a method aimed at training students to develop comprehensively in terms of knowledge, skills, attitudes and at the same time have a sense of responsibility to society.

Khanh Ly is one of the rare students at Vinh University who has had school-level scientific research for two consecutive years.

According to Professor - Dr. Dinh Xuan Khoa - Rector of Vinh University, promoting scientific research activities for students is an important task to improve the quality of the school. At Vinh University, scientific research activities always receive attention and proper investment from the Board of Directors... "In 2017, the whole school had 43 scientific research topics for students at the school level implemented. This number is still too small, not satisfactory", Professor Khoa shared.

Principal Dinh Xuan Khoa said that many students today have good academic performance but are not really proactive in approaching scientific research activities. There are students who, although having the qualities and abilities, are afraid of difficulties, are not passionate, and do not spend time on research, so the quality of their topics is not high.

In addition, some cadres and lecturers, especially young lecturers, have not paid due attention to this activity, and have not provided guidance or developed plans for students. This forces students to explore on their own, significantly affecting the results of scientific research.

“Students’ scientific research skills are still limited. Many students do not yet fully understand the process and how to develop a project. Meanwhile, teachers want academic and large-scale projects, which makes it difficult for students,” said Mr. Khoa.

Nearly 2 months ago, at a seminar on startups, Professor Dinh Xuan Khoa shared about the traffic jam in the school's parking area. "Despite the investment, congestion is still unavoidable. If any student has a scientific work or idea to solve this problem, making parking more convenient, the school will reward 150 million VND", said the Principal of Vinh University. However, since then, according to Professor Khoa, only one information technology student has come to the principal to present the idea.

“This student’s idea only stopped at changing class hours, which did not meet the requirements. I wanted something really specific, smart, and technological,” Professor Khoa said, giving an example of the library, where items are embedded with electronic chips; each time someone steals them and takes them out, they will be detected immediately. “The school is willing to provide financial support for students to do scientific research. We know that not all research projects are successful, and this is support for students. But the problem is that students are partly not passionate about it, and partly have not yet recognized a topic for research.

The head of Vinh University said that there are currently many problems that need to be researched and solutions found "not far away" such as the situation of trees on campus, streets falling down during storms, the situation of garbage...
