Coach Huu Thang joins U.20 Vietnam in Germany
Coach Nguyen Huu Thang will closely follow the U.20 Vietnam team during their training trip in Germany from April 16 to 28 to directly watch the young players, in order to supplement the U.22 Vietnam team to prepare for the 2017 SEA Games.

Coach Huu Thang said he wanted to take advantage of the V-League break between the two stages to work closely with U.20 Vietnam (VN) to find additional players for the U.22 VN team. In May, U.22 will meet U.20 Argentina and prepare for the SEA Games taking place in August in Malaysia. This is an important opportunity because in the past, when inspecting the V-League, Mr. Thang did not have many opportunities to watch the U.20 VN players play football.
“I often discuss with coach Hoang Anh Tuan about the players on the list that can be added to the U.22 Vietnam team. In the past, I mainly followed the V-League and only watched a few U.20 Vietnam players play. This will be a good opportunity for me to directly watch them practice and compete for 2 weeks with 3 matches here and have the most accurate assessments,” coach Huu Thang added.
Coach Huu Thang’s visit to Germany is good news for U.20 Vietnam, because the 2 weeks in Germany will be a “golden” opportunity for them to prove their abilities to the head coach of U.22 as well as the Vietnam national team. In addition, Coach Huu Thang has been to Germany many times and has good relationships in Germany, so he will be able to support U.20 Vietnam if necessary.
U.20 Vietnam is entering the final days of tactical preparation for the training phase in Hanoi, before officially departing for Germany with a shortlist of 25 players.
Coach Huu Thang commented: “I think U.20 Vietnam can play with Bundesliga youth teams. At this age, they are only physically stronger than us, but not necessarily superior. We can play. Regarding the field conditions and accommodation, if we stay in the club premises, it will be very good.”
