Jujitsu Nguyen Tat Loc and the dream of conquering SEA Games 33
In 2025, Jujitsu athlete Nguyen Tat Loc (born in 1999) was honored as "Outstanding Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings" at the provincial level. He is one of the few athletes from Nghe An to achieve this noble title. Few people know that to achieve this achievement, Nguyen Tat Loc had a journey of great effort.
A year of acceleration
In the Vietnamese Jujitsu community, the name Nguyen Tat Loc is no longer strange. Although he has only been involved in this sport for a few years, he has quickly asserted himself with an impressive record of achievements.

The year 2024 marked a great step forward in Nguyen Tat Loc's competitive career. In the domestic arena, he won 1 Gold Medal at the National Jujitsu Club Championship, 3 Gold Medals at the National Jujitsu Championship in 3 categories: No-gi, Fighting and GI combat. At the same time, Loc won 1 more Gold Medal at the National Excellent Athletes Championship.
On the international stage, Loc continued to make his mark with 2 Gold Medals at the World Beach Jujitsu Championship in 2 individual and team events. At the same time, he also won 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal at the Southeast Asian Jujitsu Championship in 2 events: Fighting and Full contact.
Looking back on his breakthrough journey in 2024, Loc shared that he was very happy to be called up to the National Team in early 2024. This was an important milestone for him to have more opportunities to compete and prove himself in professional tournaments.

The most unforgettable memory is probably the first time trying out jujitsu on the international arena at the Southeast Asian Jujitsu Championship in July 2024.
When he first set foot in Indonesia, Loc couldn't help but feel bewildered and nervous. His unstable mentality caused him to miss the opportunity to win the Gold Medal, only achieving Silver and Bronze Medals at this tournament.
However, not achieving the expected results gave Loc valuable lessons about psychological preparation and competition tactics in an international environment. Loc accumulated not only practical experience but also psychological maturity and skills so that 3 months later, he performed very well at the World Beach Jujitsu Championship held in Thailand.

Before entering this tournament, Loc had undergone a rigorous weight loss process. Normally, his weight is 83 kg, but to compete in the right weight class, he was forced to lose weight to 77 kg. The weight loss had a significant impact on his physical condition and health. When entering the field, Loc felt even more pressure when facing opponents with superior physical condition and very good competition skills.
However, receiving encouragement from the coaching staff and teammates gave him the strength to have a confident and courageous match. As a result, Loc brought home 2 Gold Medals in this tournament, a worthy achievement for his outstanding efforts.

It is known that before that, in 2023, Nguyen Tat Loc also created a miracle at the "2023 National Jujitsu Championship" when he excellently won 3 Gold Medals in 3 categories: No-gi, Fighting and Full contact. Few people know that 2023 is the first year Loc practiced and competed in this Jujitsu sport. Before 2023, Loc was known in 2 other sports: Wushu and Wrestling.
Journey full of determination
Nguyen Tat Loc was born in Thuong Son commune, Do Luong district, in a family of 4 brothers and sisters. During his junior high school years, Loc participated in many football matches at the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the school level and caught the attention of the staff of the Do Luong District Cultural Center. Until the summer of 9th grade, the District Cultural Center introduced Loc to the coach at the Nghe An Sports Training and Coaching Center (now the Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center) to participate in the Wushu competition.

Nguyen Tat Loc's family was quite poor. There is a memory that Loc still remembers, that is in 2015, Loc was given the opportunity to participate in the National Youth Wushu Tournament. That year's tournament was held in Nghe An. Although he had just started training, he showed his talent and entered the Final round.
Hearing that their son had made it to the important competition round, Nguyen Tat Loc's parents were extremely happy. However, Loc's family's situation was extremely difficult as his father was a construction worker but due to many illnesses, he had to take a long leave from work to stay home and help his wife raise livestock and grow crops. In order to have the conditions to encourage their son to compete, Nguyen Tat Loc's parents decided to sell the family's chickens and ducks to get money for gas and travel.

Entering the final round, Nguyen Tat Loc met a very strong opponent. Therefore, in the first half, Loc was completely defeated. In the second half, seeing his parents cheering for him, Loc tried to turn the game around and won his first Gold Medal. That was the Gold Medal in Wushu at the 2015 National Youth Wushu Tournament.
During his training and competition journey, in addition to the important awards he won in 2023 and 2024, Nguyen Tat Loc also has a long list of achievements when he won a Silver Medal at the 2017 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship held in Thai Nguyen. In 2019, Loc won 2 Silver Medals at the 2019 Southeast Asian Youth Wrestling Championship, a Gold Medal at the 2021 National Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship, a Silver Medal at the 2022 National Sports Festival for Traditional Wrestling, and a Gold Medal at the 2023 National Beach Wrestling Championship...

Entering 2025, Nguyen Tat Loc has a burning desire to compete in the 33rd SEA Games held in Thailand. This is not only a dream he has cherished since the first days of entering the sports path, but also a big goal that he has been constantly striving towards until now.
