Head coach of the Vietnamese women's team - Mai Duc Chung was not surprised when his team lost 0-4 to Japan in the opening match of the 2018 Asian Cup.
The Vietnamese women's team lost 0-4 to Japan in the opening match of the 2018 Asian Cup in Jordan. This result was not beyond the expectations of the media and experts, because the Japanese women's team is much stronger than the Vietnamese women's team.
Speaking at a press conference after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung of the Vietnamese women's team said: "We completely deserved to lose to the Japanese team, I have no complaints. Our squad has problems, 2 official central defenders are sick while there are no replacements, so we have to put 2 reserve players in the central defender position."

“Although our squad is not good, the players still tried their best in this match. The Japanese women's team is better than us in every aspect, including physical strength, technique and tactics. However, all the Vietnamese players also played with great determination in the match,” Mr. Chung affirmed.
“In the next match against Australia, this is a strong and highly ranked team, so we have to try harder. Compared to the last match against Japan, our squad has also become much younger and there are 4-5 players participating in an international tournament for the first time, but I still appreciate your fighting spirit.
We may be inferior to our opponents in terms of size and technique, but the spirit of our athletes today is also very commendable. This is also the difference compared to previous encounters with the Japanese team.”./.
