December 16, 2017 06:10

The captain of U23 Vietnam revealed his plan to deal with the home team in the final match of the M-150 Cup friendly tournament.

“First of all, I have to thank the players for their good performance today,” Park Hang-seo began his press conference after the 2-1 victory in the third-place match against Thailand. “Honestly, I was exhausted from thinking from morning to night to find a strategy to play against Thailand. I wanted the players to know how to attack and how to defend. And I am very happy that they followed the right strategy to get the desired result.”

This is the first time the Korean strategist has led a Vietnamese team to face Thailand and has had positive results. Regarding this, Mr. Park shared: “When I was a player, I had many encounters with Thai clubs, but this is the first time I have played against them on the coaching bench, so the feeling is very special.

Today's match was very tense, Thailand is a strong team but my students were not overwhelmed and played well to win."

“I watched Thailand play against North Korea, they played well with the 3-4-3 formation and in this tournament, every coach has two popular tactical formations. Normally it is 3-4-3, but when losing the ball, they switch to 5-4-1. Teams need to be flexible when applying, and must play a lot to be effective,” Mr. Park added.

Cong Phuong scored both goals for Vietnam, with Quang Hai providing the first assist. “Both of these players played well, passed the ball well and knew how to take advantage of opportunities. But not only them, the other players in the team also played well,” said Mr. Park Hang-seo about his players.

He also had many compliments for Xuan Truong, who had an assist for Cong Phuong to score, raising the score to 2-0. “With each match, Xuan Truong is playing better and better. He is a necessary player for the team. In addition, Xuan Truong also has good foreign language skills to communicate on the field and I am satisfied with this captain.”

Tomorrow, U23 Vietnam will return home. After that, the team will regroup to prepare for a friendly match with Ulsan Hyundai Club (Korea) at Hang Day Stadium on December 21.
