Coach Park Hang-seo: 'I am satisfied with the performance of U23 Vietnam'

“First of all, I feel that the atmosphere at Viet Tri Stadium is very good, the pitch is good, the weather is favorable for SEA Games 31. The players tried their best, completing what the coaching staff gave. I am satisfied with the performance of the whole team,” Coach Park Hang-seo said at the press conference.

Explaining why he did not use the three players over 23 years old, Hoang Duc, Hung Dung and Tien Linh, coach Park Hang-seo said: “The three players are over the age of their abilities. Our goal is to test the new players, who are joining the Vietnam U23 team for the first time. Whether the three older players play or not is not important. However, I might use them in the second match against U20 Korea.”

Coach Park Hang-seo confirmed that through the match with U20 Korea, he has made assessments of each position, thereby preparing to finalize the list of U23 Vietnam to participate in the 31st SEA Games.

Coach Park Hang-seo answered the press conference after the match against U20 Korea at Viet Tri Stadium.

“In the recent period, U23 Vietnam trained and played friendly matches at the Dubai Cup. I did not directly participate in this tournament but only watched it on TV. I listened to reports from my assistants every day.

The final list of 20 players for the SEA Games must be based on whether the new players can play in the positions I need them to. What are their roles and performances on the field? I have a relatively good view of the new players in today's draw with U20 Korea. This is a meaningful match," said coach Park Hang-seo.

Neither team created many scoring opportunities.

Regarding the comment that many of the U20 Korean players are students, Coach Park Hang-seo clearly stated his opinion: “In Korea and Vietnam, the competition systems are different. That is the difference. Korea has many players who are students, but they are not amateurs.

They studied at schools that specialize in football. Park Ji Sung also came from school football. I hope everyone does not misunderstand my comments about the Korean U20 team."

Finally, coach Park Hang-seo said that during the match he stood continuously not because he was worried but to observe clearly.
