Coach Vu Quang Bao: 'SLNA has strength that no other V.League team has'

On the occasion of the New Year of Tan Suu 2021, Coach Vu Quang Bao - who has been the captain of Song Lam Nghe Tinh for many years and now Song Lam Nghe An said: "SLNA has a special strength that no other team in V.League has. That is the spirit of solidarity.

With other teams, some from the North, some from the South, butSLNAAll the players are from Nghe An. That creates an unusual strength and fighting spirit. As long as the players play with focus and unity, SLNA will soon regain its best form.

Also according toVeteran coach from Nghe An, there are 3 criteria that coaches in V.League need to avoid to be successful in their work. He said: "After many years of leading Vietnamese football teams, I have concluded 3 factors that coaches often encounter. If you can avoid them, you will definitely have good results, otherwise, in the long run, there will be consequences.

One is the head coach being interfered with in professional matters, being influenced by the owner. Two is the problem of players working directly with the owner instead of through the coaching staff. Then third is the quality of players in the squad. The first two factors are extremely important, most of them are wrong.

I have not encountered the first two cases, but many coaches in V.League confided to me that when deciding to leave a player on the bench or replace a player, they were immediately influenced and reminded by the boss. From then on, it is very difficult for the coach to make calculations to serve the tactical intention as well as promote the team's capacity.

When I was leading the Military Zone 4 Club, the squad was not strong but that was how I succeeded. The Commander never worked with the players. The leaders only worked with the head coach and the captain, no one was allowed to contact the leaders. Any player who texted or called the Commander would be disciplined. If every club owner was like that, the players would respect and absolutely follow the instructions from the coaching board.

After leaving XSKT Can Tho and Thanh Hoa Club, Coach Vu Quang Bao has not returned to coaching because he is busy with family matters. Enlisting in the army and competing since 1972, Mr. Vu Quang Bao played for major clubs in Vietnam such as Military Zone 4, The Cong and was the captain of SLNA until 1992.

Having graduated from the Central University of Physical Education and Sports 1, Coach Vu Quang Bao started coaching in 2003 at Military Zone 4 Club. One of the biggest achievements of the coach born in 1955 is the 2 championships at the National First Division in 2008 with Military Zone 4 and in 2013 with Quang Nam.

2019 season,Coach Vu Quang BaoHe was appointed to the hot seat twice by Thanh Hoa and XSKT Can Tho at very important times. After helping the Tay Do team stay in the First Division successfully, Coach Vu Quang Bao continued to help Thanh Hoa Club stay in V.League as Technical Director.
