Ho Ngoc Ha and Ngo Thanh Van are upset because of fake AI ads.
A series of Vietnamese artists, including Ho Ngoc Ha and Ngo Thanh Van, have had to speak out to warn that their images and voices were being faked by AI technology to scam fans.
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to fake the images and voices of celebrities for fraud purposes is on the rise. Recently, singers Ho Ngoc Ha, My Tam and actress Ngo Thanh Van have all spoken out to warn about this issue after their names were used to advertise products of unknown origin.
Ho Ngoc Ha calls for help because fans were deceived
On her personal page, singer Ho Ngoc Ha posted an article titled "Warning Corner", expressing her anger at the use of AI to create fake promotional videos of her. The singer said that although she usually stays silent in the face of false information, this time she was forced to speak up because the incident had caused serious consequences.
"Audiences sent me a lot of angry messages because they didn't know that these products all used photoshopped images, AI technology and were completely without Ha's and Ha's company's consent," she shared. As a result, many fans trusted and bought poor quality products, leading to the situation of "losing money and getting sick".
Ho Ngoc Ha had to speak up for help and hoped that the authorities, especially the Cyber Security, would intervene to handle this situation, protect the artist's image and the rights of consumers.
Ngo Thanh Van denies rumors of owning large assets
At the same time, actress Ngo Thanh Van also posted a letter expressing her concern when her image and voice were faked by AI to spread false information. These rumors not only fabricated rumors about her owning a luxurious villa and large assets, but also linked her to products she had never collaborated with.
"This false information not only affects personal honor, but also causes the audience to misunderstand and lose trust," Ngo Thanh Van wrote. She affirmed that her family lives simply and the fabricated information on social networks is completely untrue.
My Tam and the common problems of artists
Previously, singer My Tam also issued an official warning about her image being used without permission. The singer affirmed that she did not participate in or represent any products other than the brands announced on the official channel, and said that she was working with the authorities to handle the violations.
This issue represents an alarming trend as deepfake technology becomes increasingly sophisticated, allowing the creation of convincingly fake celebrity videos and audio. These products are then exploited to advertise illegal goods, defraud consumers and seriously affect the reputation of artists.
