Miss Ky Duyen: Plastic surgery helps me get more advertising contracts

Ky Duyen was crowned Miss Vietnam 2014. At the time of winning the crown, she was criticized for having an unbalanced face and dark skin. After being crowned, Ky Duyen made efforts to change her appearance and fashion style.

- 4 years after being crowned, Ky Duyen has gone through many emotions: happiness, pain, anxiety and pressure... Looking back on the past, what do you see as your gains and losses, and what has made Ky Duyen who she is today?

Actually, I always get this question when answering the press and each time I have a different thought. I think I have gained a lot and every journey I have had to pay a price.

Until now, I can only say thank you to the “dark” times that helped shape the mature and confident Ky Duyen that she is today. At the age of 22, I realized my responsibility and role and saw the path I was on and wanted to conquer it.

As for the loss, Duyen doesn't want to mention it because now I only want to talk about positive things.

- There was a time when you were in crisis when you almost lost your crown because of the scandals that fell on your head. Now when you look back at those scandals, are you grateful for them or still afraid of them?

At that time, I was very sad and disappointed in myself, and the fear was gone of course because so much time had passed. I have to be thankful because that was the "last straw" for me to regain my spirit for the comeback like today. You see, I am doing very well and am gradually maturing to create a truly brilliant youth and adolescence.

-The decision to start a career in Saigon was considered by everyone to be risky for Ky Duyen, but I think it was the right move because in addition to being more mature, you also created a very different beauty queen. What do you say about this?

Thank you for thinking positively about Duyen. I thought it was simpler because at that time I wanted to find a more professional team to develop my image and Saigon was clearly much more professional. However, after coming to Ho Chi Minh City, I realized that this was the city for me and now I have decided to stay here.

As for creating a different beauty queen, I want to be myself, not someone else. Many viewers think that I am not like my seniors, but I think everyone has their own personality, as long as they do the right thing. And so far, I have proven to everyone that my own path is the right one. I also thank Saigon, it is truly a promised land.

- Ky Duyen sits in the hot seat to train contestants, Ky Duyen participates in game shows with Hua Vi Van, all of which show a Ky Duyen with personality and determination to assert herself. Are you doing everything because you want people to not just remember you as a beauty queen who is crowned and easily forgotten, or does showbiz help you have good economic potential?

It is true that showbiz gives me a good economic potential but that is not all. I do everything because I see myself as capable, I want to challenge myself to see how far my ability goes. And most of all, I want to show my fans more of myself.

Before, my audience or anti-fans only saw me through entertainment events, scandals or simply good or bad images. I want through the personality program, my personality will be closer to everyone.

- Not only your personality and style are getting sexier and more attractive. You are very straightforward in not hiding the fact that you had plastic surgery to make your bust more attractive... Many people believe that plastic surgery can change your destiny, what about you?

I had breast surgery because I wanted to be more confident, more attractive, more beautiful. And I think that cosmetic surgery is not bad, if you find a good facility and meet with specialized doctors. As for the publicity, I think simply I do not want to deceive the audience, and I admit that I did it.

I am afraid of the feeling that I am constantly afraid of being “exposed” by this person or the media always criticizing my “overhaul” of my breasts but just pretending that it is nothing. And I also see that since the day I had breast augmentation surgery, it has helped me get more advertising contracts and my work has been more favorable. But I do not abuse that to dress revealingly or to promote cosmetic surgery.

- It's been a while since you've shared anything about your parents. Surely they feel somewhat reassured about you now?

No matter what, I am still my parents' little child, and they have never stopped worrying about me, but they are definitely proud. Because I am financially independent and have never stopped caring about my family. I rarely share because this is my private life, I do not want my parents to have to endure bad things every time I have problems.

- At the same time as Tu Anh got married, Huyen My was in love and also announced that she would get married at 25. What about you, is there anything fun about your love life?

“Duyen doesn’t have a boyfriend yet. Duyen is still afraid of being single”, just joking but Duyen is still waiting for her other half. Currently, Duyen is not in a hurry because she wants to develop her career and work. Duyen is only 22 years old so she just wants to pursue her own ambitions and passions first.

- What are your plans for the future?

Graduated from Foreign Trade University in Ho Chi Minh City, became a good businesswoman and continued to develop her image career well in 2018. After finishing her role as a Coach at Vietnam Supermodel, Duyen will participate in an international event in mid-September..
